The Magician is a serious woman who’s the sole heir to her family’s misfortune: the Nasmaranian, an ancient demon that destroys communities. The Magician must bind the demon to a body and entomb it to keep the demon from spreading. This sounds altruistic, but between her not wanting her family to listen to music and what she does to her own child, I have to say, she’s a cold bitch.
Because of the way it’s filmed, the audience likely concludes The Magician is dead when Detective Zaki shoots her, but nope! The final scene is The Magician handcuffed to a bed (I’m thinking it’s an insane asylum, but it could be a hospital). Larissa and Zaki enter with a possessed Charlie in the wheelchair. The door closes, and we hear chanting – the transfer ritual has begun.
