Character Notes
Layla is the unseen childhood friend of Katie, The Mummy. We finally meet her as a young adult when the detective shows up at their house in the middle of nowhere. Layla’s tongue has been cut off by her mother. Layla tells Detective Zaki that this was done as punishment for telling someone what they were doing (mummification).
Her time on screen is brief.

As far as we know, Layla lives. She exists in the movie to share the story of her mother.
