Scene Summary
Anya, who has been showing signs of infection, learns of Lena's connection to Kane and is now distrustful of the group. Anya ties the other three up, laying out her theory that Lena murdered Sheppard. She's interrupted by Sheppard's voice screaming, "help me." Anya runs outside yelling for Sheppard, when the group hears a bear growl followed by silence. First, you see the bear's shadow in the front door hallway, then the bear itself, half shrouded in shadow. It heads toward the group members who are desperately—quietly—trying to get untied. Lena tells the others to keep quiet. The bear is about to take a chunk out of Josie's shoulder when Anya goes Rambo. The bear jumps to do away with Anya, ripping off her jaw, allowing the others to untie themselves and find weapons. Lena shoots it with an automatic rifle in the face, killing it.
What really gets you is the human scream emanating from the mutated creature. Imagine that right up in your face.
