Dr. Ventress is a psychologist who screened previous expeditions and leads this one into Area X. Terminally ill and emotionally detached, she pushes toward the lighthouse because she has nothing left to lose. She’s determined and willing to do whatever it takes to reach her goal.

Lena finds Ventress in the lighthouse, where the shimmer part of The Shimmer violently spews from her body and disintegrates her human form.
