I’d consider Ryan the main character in this. He’s a paramedic and helps out when the first guy goes down.
He wanted Pia to try again to have a baby, even though she wasn’t ready, and didn’t want to go through all of that heartache again.

He died trying to save Pia during the flight emergency, taking off his own emergency mask to put it on her.
