I don’t really know what Ben’s motivation is, other than that he is a complete psychopath. There’s something with his mother there because he talks a lot about her, has her photo in his meat cave, and admits to killing and eating her. Then there’s the fact that he stalks, chases (even giving his victims time to run), k*lls, and then cures the bodies with a brine mixture. Yeah. So, he’s not a good person.
At the end of the movie, you are told there are at least 20 victims.
We really only know how he lured Sasha, but it seems like he lures/stalks his victims and then surprises them with the game of cat and mouse.
They’re climbing up a mountain because Ben is injured, but he’s the only one who knows the way out. As they’re climbing, Sasha manages to single out his line on a tree and removes the safety harness (zero clue about climbing equipment). He plunges towards a rock shelf, and we – the audience – are watching from just below the rock shelf.
