Vamps take advantage of polar night
We find ourselves in Barrow, Alaska, where townspeople are readying for polar night...and so are the ancient vampires.

Jake mentions they might be vampires, and Eben clearly targets the head.

You see snippets of blood and a knife but it's not in the same frame as the dog. Only partial shots, mostly implied. You do hear the dogs whining.

The vampire burning alive kind, they turn black into ash.

It's the kid vampire, and it's implied rather than shown.

Lots of decapitations on-screen.
Suicide
I'm counting the mercy killings of those humans who know they're turning vampire.
Ending Notes
Eben injects himself with vampire blood, knowingly sacrificing himself for the survivors. He and Stella end up overlooking the frozen tundra as the sun comes up. Eben burns and screams before dying.

There are some jump scares, but honestly, the vampire design is nightmare inducing.
