Knowing: Something you don’t want to know
If I were to rank Knowing among Nic Cage’s movies, it’d be at the bottom. Not a bad concept for a movie but poorly executed. There’s something wooden about Cage’s performance. I don’t know if it’s the soft lighting – this is when his hairline started to recede, where I’m not sure if it’s a wig or this is him trying to hang on to what’s left. But his performance seems wooden and hollow, there’s no fire in his eyes like there are in so many of his other movies.
Who knew that a very young Rose Byrne would be so bad in this movie. Her character adds nothing but an extra death at the end of the movie.
Turns out I had seen this movie before – I only remembered the ending when I got to it. And that’s because the ending is pretty bad. Everyone dies – spolier – except for two kids who are going to perform magic tricks with the bunnies later.
