Army of the Dead: Tig Notaro FTW

I really liked this movie even though I should hate it because EVERYONE FUCKING DIES.

Well, all but The Final Girl. And I thought maybe a The Final Black Man made it but…

Either way, the movie is worth watching. The character dynamics are hilarious – special shoutout to the Dieter + Vanderohe pairing. Didn’t see that coming. I love Dave Bautista’s comedic roles (I watch Guardians only because he’s so hilarious). And Tig Notaro – what a BONUS.

On Tig – I read later that she was a last minute replacement and did her scenes completely BY HERSELF. She hasn’t met her co stars yet! I could not tell (although maybe I’ll go back just to see).

Outside of the great character interactions, it’s a pretty decent movie plot. The zombies have a smart sub-breed of fast, intelligent beings – nods to new and old zombies (plus a zombie tiger that was Siegfried’s).

And then…one by one, they get picked off. All of them – and there are like 10 to start with. Don’t do me like that! I WANTED THE FATHER/DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP, but instead the daughter has to kill her father (I really would have liked to see Bautista as one of those smart zombies). NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The ending provides an open door for a sequel – but with whom? Would it be a whole new cast of rando celebrities a la Zombieland?

I mean, I’d watch that.

Any horror movie fan, really. It’s enjoyable down to the music score.
