Not-Horror Movie Review: Hubie Halloween
Because I have no shame, I’m just going to say it: I LOVE Adam Sandler.
Sandler’s What the Hell Happened To Me? album was among my first CDs. The ’90s SNL cast will ALWAYS be my favorite. And while I don’t like all his movies, I do like Little Nicky.
With that in mind, I enjoyed this movie. The plot, like most Sandler movies, is effing ridiculous. But it’s a damn throwback to a lot of the best Sandler movies, and for that, I like it.
The opening scene is Ben Stiller’s nurse from Billy Madison. I mean, his love interest is none other than Julie Bowen of Happy Gilmore. Sandler’s character’s last name is DuBois (Waterboy). Steve Buscemi’s a werewolf (Hotel Transylvania). I swear I heard Happy Gilmore’s grandma’s voice (obvi not her since she passed away), and I was convinced the radio announcer was Kathy Bates (it’s not though).
All that to say there were a ton of easter-eggs for any Adam Sandler fan.
What was missing, though:
- Rob Schneider screaming “you can do it!”
- His Grandma’s Boy crew

Adam Sandler fans.
