I love me a good Mike Flannigan mini series. I’d watch it even knowing it sucks. And this one kinda does. But it’s worth watching before shit gets culty. Only some of Flanigan’s mainstays appear, mostly in the oral stories these terminal kids are telling in the middle of the night. It introduces some news ones – ones I hope appear in future series. My favorite one being Anya, played by some Tik Tok star, apparently (Ruth Codd, a right British bitch!). Another delight is Heather Langencamp. I may have said “that looks like Nancy from Nightmare on Elm Street” before I realized it was…yeah. In my defense, I can’t…

  • Background image is black and brooding, a haunted house with a single light is looming. In a circle inset, an image from Smile shows Sosie Bacon next to a red telephone. Above the circle inset is the title "Smile" in dripping horror font, and the year the movie was played (2022)

Not sure why, but Renee Zellweger has never been a favored actress. I am not one bit disappointed by The Thing About Pam; and in fact, I am now a Renee Zellweger fan. She's a great actress, especially considering she's emulating the murderess. You want to murder her when you watch it.

Hocus Pocus 2: How You Do a Sequel After 20 Years

    October 2, 2022 /

Not only do I (mostly) hate movie versions of books, but I loathe remakes and sequels. Especially when they butcher movies I grew up loving. And I grew up loving Hocus Pocus. LOVING IT. I was prime age – 3rd grade – when it came out. I watched it enough as a kid that I vividly remember scenes to this day. The great thing about this movie is they know they’re making a sequel. It gives you the backstory of the Sanderson Sisters, one that makes you like them a bit more. There’s no Thora Burch, but the cast is filled with POCs, probably in big part to Bette Middler…
